Leather arbitration

LEATHER ARBITRATION

Arbitration is a tool for the resolution of civil law and commercial disputes, as provided for by the Italian Code of Civil Procedure (Art. 806 and following), and operates as an alternative to the ordinary courts. The parties entrust the settlement of their dispute to either a Single Arbitrator or an Arbitration Panel, that is to say, to impartial and independent third parties with technical expertise, who are experts in the matter.

One of the new aspects of the Chamber of Arbitration for the Trading of Hides, Skins and Leather is the fact that it decides pursuant to Italian law, and civil procedure, which enables a rapid and less costly resolution of the matter, with the issuing of an award, and is of equal value to that of a decision of a court of first instance.

The arbitration is administered by the National and International Chamber of Arbitration for the Trading of Hides, skins and Leather in accordance with its Arbitration Rules. Therefore, parties who decide to have recourse to these arbitration proceedings for the leather sector are required to abide by the Arbitration Rules and to pay the relative rates.
